knitter, i am not wednesday 02.15.2006

this week i stumbled on a clic of blogs that belong to very prolific knitters. the sort that updates nearly daily and gets 134 comments per post. makes me wonder what these power knitting bloggers do for a living. moreover, makes me ashamed to be calling this brown thing a knit blog.

anyway, just because i am worthless at knitting doesn't mean i can't show off. i have been thinking about how the number of stripes affect the appearance of a sweater.

that's the three stripe template. i also made templates for four, five, and six stripes. here's what they look like with colors:

so far i'm only messing with two colors each sweater. i like the blocky look of the three stripe a lot. i wonder if it would make me look, well, blocky. wish i was taller knitting.

I like the third striping the best, the dark and light greens go well together. My only thought is, what company makes two different but compatible shades of green? It's usually neon and deep forrest

i agree - three is the best. i like four also. but five and six seem like the stripes will be hitting your body in places maybe you don't want them to be... :)

I like the 3 stripe, but in the brown and pink colors!

I am so in love with the pink-brown color combo these days... don't even make me talk about the fantastic pink/brown bedding at Restoration Hardware.... ugh! I do really like the idea of the big/rugby/zoom from the 70s size stripe.

Hey, don't feel bad. I haven't been knitting at all and I still think mine's a knitting blog.

cool schematics. how many stripes were in your after eight mint?

why ashamed? there are always nifty creatures here, and you have a nice "craft"y sweater going.

I like the four stripes best, that way you can use different colors for your hips, waist and bust. (I'm a plus size gal, I'm always thinking about stuff like this.)

That way if you need to look curvier, you can use a dark color at your waist (which will look smaller) and a lighter color at the hips and bust. (Or reverse that if you're too curvy.)

BTW, I am really into powder blue and brown, or light teal and brown. (but bright red and chocolate brown look good enough to eat!)

I came across your blog by doing a quirky knitting pattern search. Very nice patterns - and a very nice layout - very step-by-step.

I'm a new knitter - started learning from a co-worker back in November of last year. I'm currently working on my first scarf (and I've started over about 40 times - literally).

I just wanted to ask the link for the bevy of blogs you mention in this entry. I'm always looking for interesting knitting blogs to inspire me.

Thank you!
Susan
