jg and i both see an optometrist in sausalito. two weeks ago we went in for our annual check up. when we left the doctor's office, i noticed the sign above a store across the street. my eyes were all tweaked so all i could see was bluebird and something looking like a yarn ball. jg foolishly read the entire sign to me. he ended up spending the next 15 minutes standing around outside the yarn store waiting for me.
these scans are from a really old book i borrowed from the library. i think it's by better homes and gardens, full of precious patterns.
i'm so obsessed with granny squares right now i can imagine making everything in those pictures. i actually like the sweater in this next picture. i don't know why it wasn't made with granny squares. anyway, doesn't the model look like robert f kennedy?
that's from a book called crochet lace by mary konior. for some reason i associated crochet lace with fillet crochet, which is the type i never liked. i would have never guessed that crochet lace could look so nice.
i think that stitch pattern is the equivalent of feather-and-fan for knitting. isn't it lovely?
published in 1991
currently priced at $145 on amazon. makes me glad i got to see the book. wish i had taken a picture of every pattern in it though.
