a new use for yarn

that's a blurry close up of an art work i found at scrap. it was hung way high like a curtain.

pretty neat, huh?

i hadn't been to scrap for years. i was on my way to visit my momma on wednesday and i thought i'd stop by for a quick browse. look what i found:

$7

14 hanks (300 yards each) of two ply lace weight wool yarn, made in brittain. they're so very soft. i bought all i could find.

$2

the blue is a sock weight wool. i suspect it's briggs+little tuffy, 80% wool and 20% nylon. the drab olive is ggh tajmahal, made of merino, silk, and cashmere. i wonder why someone discarded such a fine yarn. i turned the dollar bin upside down looking for more of the tajmahal but no luck.

other than that, i got two grocery bags of really nice fabric samples in cotton, silk, and wool. most are at least half yard in size. they were entirely free. good incentive for me to hurry up and get a sewing machine.

found while snowboarding sunday 01.27.2008

a fine place, indeed

actually, it was jg who pointed it out to me as we were heading for the gondolas.

i like that it has a lounge area with comfortable sofas. i always quit snowboarding about an hour before jg does so this would be a good place for me to hang and wait for him. plus it's next door to starbucks.

bought after snowboarding
