sold on papastour.com for approximately $50 per pair
i took that image without asking. please don't turn me in. i would have posted a link but their url isn't cooperative. anyway, i took to the blue pair the moment i saw it. the knitting looks super simple. and clever. i immediately showed the booties to erin and holly. i challenged them to come up with a pattern for the blue pair.
that was last thursday. the idea was to have a schematic pattern figured out for seamless booties. i just wanted to see how we each approach the knitting. holly gave it some thought but she didn't have the time to humor my shenanigans. erin, on the other hand, went all out. i don't think the college is giving her enough work.
as for me, this is how i saw the pattern.
knitting notes:
a. cast on 2 x width. use open cast on. graft when finished.
b. eor = every other round
c. corners marked by x occur at the same point.
d. toe bind off may be grafted.
e. shape toe sock style so to alleviate square-ness.
f. holes forming a v toward the toe is decorative. work (yo k2tog)
and its mirror image (sl1-sl1-k2tog yo) every other round from
x to toe. this will eliminate the variability of the foot's length.
evidently, erin has the better approach.* i like that her pattern doesn't deal with the open cast on. plus hers provides for a handsome roll at the cuff. i hope she'll sell her pattern for less than 25 pounds.
*of course erin would have the better approach; she has a phd in science!
