yesterday was possibly the most hectic monday i have ever had. the phone rang non stop; i should have had it welded to my head. during one conversation, a second line beeped, and the fedex guy rang the door bell. i had to switch line politely, put on my shoes, grab the keys, run downstairs, sign for the package, drag it up three flights of stairs, switch back to line one, unlock the door to the building, and get back inside. i was flailing around with one hand stuck to the side of my head all the while trying to sound composed and sensible on the phone. i'm sure i didn't fool anyone with all the awkward pauses and the traffic noise in the background. it's a small miracle i didn't kill myself in between. how did i become this multi tasking cell phone abusing monster?
the good news is: the postman rang twice yesterday. well, the post man and then the postlady, package carrier and mail carrier respectively. let me show you the goods.

i am back to knitting the monster that is the aran. here's proof lest anyone thinks i've abandoned the knit along i started.
the yarn i use is not at all blue. for some reason, my camera just can't record the true color. it is a warm dark gray, a sort of heather brown, completely devoid of blue.
anyway, in case you have a few more minutes to spare, i posted every last complaint on this project on the aran along blog. check it out.

i am one ear from being done with crocheting. i struggled with the pattern even though it couldn't be clearer or simpler. my crocheting skills are not as advanced as i thought.
i have polyfill but no pellets to stuff it with. i think the pellets go in the butt and paws. purely guessing, of course; pattern is exclusively japanese. anyway, the book shows dried beans as a pellet option. i need to shop for some big enough that they won't fall through the crochet fabric.

...stuffed in a head
i over estimated my skills for this project. it looks a lot simpler than it actually is. it took me forever to sew the ears and snout on to the head. i embroidered the nose with yarn instead of using a piece of red felt. the eyes took three stitches each and the mouth took another three; these nine alone took me half and hour.
that's all the finishing i can do for the green cat as i don't have the required stuffing for his butt and paws. he'll have to remain a pentapus until i find some pellets.
