chris diersen (with beeze) taking it easy on stearns wharf
08 august 2009
for february, i'm going to post pictures that highlight the month of august, 2009, when i took a total of 2,375 pictures. most were taken during the backpacking trip led by chris diersen, that crazy guy.
2 miles, 1,347 ft elevation gain, 48 minutes
19 july 2009
that was the beginning of my training for the hike up to mt langley. i signed the registry as a means of motivation. it's pretty laughable that i should call it training. the elevation of valencia peak is but a tenth of langley's (14,046 ft).
fastest time for saddlerock trail
elevation gain 850 ft
23 aug 2009
the training got pretty obsessive in august of 2009. i would hike the saddlerock trail at least three times a week. the fastest time was recorded on the day i didn't have access to my car. chee had to take me to the trail head. then i made her wait for me in the car while i hiked.
that guy was totally condescending to me and jg. he made it very clear that he did not take us seriously, talking without so much as glancing at us. at first it seemed sort of funny. as he persisted, jg and i looked at each other in disbelief. i thought may be it was my hot pink outfit that offended him. but jg approached the counter ten minutes before i did and the guy was equally a jackass before i showed up.
what is with that beard anyway?
view of lone pine peak from inside the visitor center
and from outside
what a fantastic line up of peaks. there was a little sketch casually taped to the window mullion that identified the peaks but i failed to take note. i can only be certain of langley and whitney. and lone pine.
