it's my wedding anniversary today. i'm glad to report that we are again living under the same roof. but i'm sad to add that said roof is in hell hole san francisco. oh well. can't win them all.
that picture is from a mysterious roll of 35mm film i found a couple of weeks ago while packing up to move. i finally got it developed yesterday. turned out to be a roll of film i used with a lomo pop 9. it's such a toy that i would have never guessed it worked. must have been why the roll of film was undeveloped and forgotten.
shoreline park, santa barbara
i uploaded a few others on my flickr. anyway, i have five of these lomo cameras but i have no idea where they are. i'd like to waste more film with them. i hope they weren't in one of the boxes i took to the salvation army.
andrea took that picture of me some weeks ago when we were hanging around the ucla campus. i didn't have a headache then. i do now. i think san francisco is killing me.
(slightly blurry because of 13 second exposure)
pictures are cropped but otherwise untouched. you can see these pictures in full on my flickr. i've been spending way too much time staring out the window.
i took that picture of jg at stinson beach yesterday. it was his birthday and he decided to go for a short road trip. he wanted to begin the day with a hike in the muir woods.
i was skeptical that we could get into the park. we had tried many times before but could never find a parking space. it was always packed. i guess the trick is to get there before 10 am, before all the perfumed smokers in the universe show up.
please note the new $40 boots
jg crossing fern creek
and heading up lost trail
i was hoping to find banana slugs. they're featured so prominently in the park's brochure that i thought they'd be sliming all over. but no, we only saw one and it wasn't even the bright yellow kind. i didn't bother taking a picture.
we did find lots of other neat stuff. among them:
beautiful mushrooms
and lots of ladybugs!
we took a different trail back and it was mostly in the sun. the dipsea was the last leg and parts of it were closed so we had to hike on the side of the busy road. it wasn't fun. when we got back on the proper trail, there were signs that made me miss the dog.
no golden retrievers?
after the hike we headed up to stinson. jg and i had driven through this little town many times on our way to other destinations. we finally made a point to check it out. we decided to get a late but fancy lunch at the stinson beach grill.
we ordered from the today's specials menu: bbq oysters, crabcakes, and coconut shrimps. i also got a bowl of clam chowder and a full ceasar salad. everything was surprisingly good. probably because we had low expectations.
the sirens and the redneck
that picture was taken at the art gallery next door to the grill. the art was so bad that we left before we were ten feet inside the sculpture yard.
we got back to sf at 5:30, half hour too late for me to get a schubert's cake for jg. i was really bummed about that. beeze, amanda, ray, and kevin came over for dinner around 7. jg served risotto with chicken and asparagus. and lots of wine.
jg and the usual suspects
overall, it was a pretty good birthday. jg is very low key so that was as much celebrating as he could handle. i still need to hit up schubet's for some cake. i hope they make one big enough for thirty five candles!
